NEW FLYING SPUR SPEED
Overview
The new Flying Spur Speed is more powerful than any Flying Spur before it, thanks to its incredible new Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain, pairing a powerful electric motor with a V8 engine. Performance is only part of the picture, however, because the Flying Spur Speed is also an incredibly luxurious four-door sedan, built to deliver unparalleled sporting luxury, whether you drive it or travel as a passenger. With sleek new design touches and an entirely new package of digital technology, covering everything from safety systems to connected infotainment, this is a car that delivers on every level.

Design
The new Flying Spur Speed is instantly identifiable, thanks to the model’s sports-inspired design cues. Most noticeable is the Speed matrix grille at the front, which has been treated with a dark tint, along with the headlamps, taillamps and exterior metal detailing – including new-look lower bumper apertures, which contribute to an even more purposeful appearance. ‘Speed’ badging makes the identity of the car clear, while exclusive 22” Speed wheels and new body-coloured sills come together to give the car even more road presence.
When you step inside, you will encounter yet more details and finishes unique to the Speed. The model has its own unique colour layout featuring sections of Dinamica and embroidered ‘Speed’ emblems on the seats. There are stunning 3D leather panels on the insides of the doors and the inclusion of the Colour Specification as standard, you can choose from any of the colours in Bentley’s hide range. Even the digital displays feature designs that reflect the sporting nature of the Speed model.

Performance
The new Flying Spur Speed is powered by Bentley’s new Ultra-Performance Hybrid powertrain. It combines a 4.0 litre V8 engine with a powerful electric motor, to deliver a combined power output of 782 PS (771 bhp) and 1,000 Nm of torque (737 lb ft), when both the engine and electric motor are engaged. This results in truly phenomenal performance for such a spacious, four-door car: 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds (0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds) and a top speed of 177 mph (285 km/h)*.
There are four different Drive Dynamics modes, from Comfort, which prioritises a refined ride, to Sport, which delivers more agility and control. The Bentley mode offers an ideal balance between the two while the fourth mode, Custom, allows you to adjust various settings to create a bespoke mode of your own.
In addition, the car benefits from the Bentley Performance Active Chassis, which comprises a number of systems that make the car safer and more enjoyable to drive, including active all-wheel drive, Bentley Dynamic Ride, all-wheel steering and a suspension system featuring new twin-valve dampers.
The active all-wheel drive system delivers power to the rear wheels most of the time, but if the system detects any loss of traction, it diverts some power to the front wheels, increasing your grip on the road.
Bentley Dynamic Ride is a 48-volt electronic anti-roll system that works to keep the car level and stable when cornering at speed, without compromising the comfort of the ride when cruising in a straight line. All-wheel steering, meanwhile, offers two benefits: on the highway, the wheels all steer in the same direction, for smoother lane changes with less body roll. In tight spaces, the rear wheels steer in the opposite direction to the front wheels, reducing the car’s turning circle and making it incredibly agile for its size. New twin-valve dampers are also included, enabling the system to offer an even more refined ride in Comfort mode, and even greater agility in Sport mode.
*Top speed with summer tyre fitted as original equipment.
Technology
The car features both the wired and wireless versions of Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay®, with the CarPlay display now making use of the entire area of the screen. You can even opt to display it in the driver’s information panel rather than on the central touchscreen, if you prefer.
There is a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot for fast connectivity on the move, as well as wired and wireless charging for compatible phones, in both the front and the rear. The new My Bentley App Studio, meanwhile, allows you to download third-party apps directly to the car’s infotainment system, rather than running them on your smartphone. This means that apps can share data with the car. For example, a third-party navigation app could be given access to the car’s fuel and charge levels, helping it with automated journey planning.
A new air conditioning system filters out PM2.5 particles for enhanced air quality, with both interior and exterior readings displayed in a new ‘Air Quality’ panel on the central touchscreen. The system constantly compares pollutant levels inside and outside the car, recirculating the air inside if it is better than it is outside. The system can even use GPS data to predict when the car is about to enter a tunnel, and switch to recirculation mode in readiness.
The Touchscreen Remote (TSR) provides rear-seat passengers with access to the heating and ventilation settings, music controls and more. You can even use it to access the various adjustment, heating, cooling and massage features in the seats.
If the new Wellness Seating specification is installed, all four seats are fitted with two innovative new features: Seat Auto Climate, which uses sensors to monitor seat temperature and humidity, responding accordingly to keep you cool, and Postural Adjust, which uses air pockets beneath the surface to deliver a virtually imperceptible muscle massage, for reduced stiffness and fatigue.
Installed as standard, the City Specification makes driving in the city easier, with features such as a Top View Camera, Traffic Sign Recognition, pedestrian warnings and auto-dimming mirrors.
Parking is made significantly easier, thanks to the Intelligent Park Assist feature, while My Bentley Remote Park Assist allows you to manage the parking manoeuvre via your smartphone, after stepping out of the car. This can be useful if the space is tight and the car door would be difficult to open as a result.
The Touring Specification is a package of driver assistance systems designed for open-road driving. It includes a Head-Up Display and a Night Vision Camera, as well as new features such as Adaptive Cruise Assist Plus with Lane Guidance and Predictive Adaptive Cruise Assist, which together make long drives on highways and other major roads much easier.
There are three hi-fi systems to choose from, starting with the Bentley Signature Audio system, which is installed as standard. From there, you can upgrade to the 16-channel Bang & Olufsen for Bentley system or, for the most discerning audiophiles, the 20-channel Naim for Bentley system.
The My Bentley smartphone app gives you a suite of features that let you check in on your car remotely. You can use it to remind yourself where you parked or to check the status of locks, windows and fuel levels. You can even use it to pre-heat or pre-cool the cabin to the temperature of your choice, before you get in.
